Kinzang Dawa Euden, 10 months old, is the daughter of Dorji Wangdi and Kinzang Lhamo. Both parents are teachers. Kinzang Dawa Euden is the younger twin, while the older twin is healthy. She lives in the capital city of Thimpu.
When she was 2 months old, her mother took her for a vaccination. When the doctor examined her, he found that her heart beat was abnormal. He performed an ultrasound and found that she had a congenital heart disease, a type of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (PDA). He contacted the Thai – Bhutan Save Blue Heart Project to perform 99 heart surgeries to honor His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Thai – Bhutan Save Blue Heart Project) under the care of the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation.
Kinzang Dawa Euden arrived in Thailand on Friday, January 6, 2017 and underwent surgery to ligate the extra blood vessel (PDA Clipping) at the Heart Center, Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital on Saturday, January 7, 2017. The surgery went well and he was discharged from the hospital on January 10, 2017.
On Wednesday, January 18, 2017, he returned for a post-surgery checkup and a lung X-ray at Rajavithi Hospital. The doctor found that he had fluid in his lungs, so he was given medication to treat the condition. He was scheduled for another checkup on Saturday, January 21, 2017. After the second checkup, Kinzang Dawa Euden recovered normally, so the doctor allowed him to return to Bhutan.
