We have known Wae Farida Jehya since she was a little girl until now she has become a beautiful young woman. Wae Farida or Wae to the nurses was born at home by a midwife in Pattani province. When she was 1 month old, she went for a regular checkup and vaccination. The doctor diagnosed that Wae had a congenital heart defect and recommended that she be treated at Pattani Hospital. However, Pattani Hospital at that time did not have a specialist, so they sent her to Songkhla Nakarin Hospital, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, or Prince of Songkla University Hospital. They treated and monitored Wae’s condition until she was 8 years old. When Wae’s grandmother passed away, we lost contact. When Wae was 13 years old, she returned to Songkhla Nakarin Hospital for treatment. Songkhla Nakarin Hospital sent Wae to the Children’s Heart Surgery Support Foundation and made an appointment for surgery at Rajavithi Hospital. Wae had to stay in the hospital for 1 month before she could go home. But after returning home for only 15 days, Wae had an irregular heartbeat, so she had to return to Rajavithi Hospital again. After examining her symptoms, the doctor performed a second surgery to insert a pacemaker. She was admitted to Rajavithi Hospital for 10 days before she was able to return home. They have been monitoring her condition continuously. After both surgeries, Wae was able to return to a life that was close to normal, able to go to school like her friends. When Wae was 17 years old, they made an appointment for her to undergo a third heart surgery on July 14, 2008. This time, it was a major surgery to correct all the abnormalities to make her as close to normal as possible. Wae had to stay in the hospital for 5 months, with 26 days in the ICU. This made Wae very close and bonded with the nurses.
Wae has now graduated from Darul Marif School in Mueang District, Pattani Province. Wae will be able to grow up to be a woman with a bright future thanks to the kindness of all the generous donors. Thank you.
