Nong Piang Dao is the second child of father Yasa and mother Nan Ji Lin. Both are Burmese who came to work as vegetable pushers at Pak Khlong Talat. Nong Piang Dao was born prematurely at only 6 months of pregnancy. At birth, she weighed 1,300 kilograms and had to be intubated since birth. Piang Dao has an older brother who is about 3 years old, but her grandmother raised her in Burma. Piang Dao underwent surgery on December 19, 2013, in cooperation between the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation and Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital. Her parents did not have to pay any expenses. After the surgery, she still had to stay in the hospital for a while until the intubation could be removed. Her lungs had to improve and her weight would increase before the doctor would allow her to go home.
