Miss Pawinee Luangkam or Nong Ma-u is the second child of father Joe and mother Ae. Both are Burmese who came to work in Thailand about 10 years ago. The eldest child is 10 years old. She left her grandmother to take care of her in Burma.
Both parents came to work as milking cows in Saraburi Province. They received a combined salary of about 7,000 baht per month, which was not enough to make a living. Later, they switched to work at a T-shirt factory. Her father earned 300 baht per day and her mother 250 baht per day. The factory is located on Phra Ram 2 Road. However, they have only been working for about 4 months.
Nong Ma-u was born at Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital. At birth, everything was normal. However, the doctor later found that she had a congenital heart defect, with extra coronary arteries. She had to undergo surgery to recover.
Nong Mao therefore underwent surgery with assistance from Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation. The surgery was performed at Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital on February 5, 2015. After the surgery, Nong’s condition gradually improved and it is expected that she will recover and be able to live a normal life like other children soon.
