Nong Natcha Nant or Nong Natcha is the daughter of Ms. Nantaphorn Saeng-on, a factory worker living in Ayutthaya Province. Her mother told us that when she was born at Ang Thong Hospital, she had cyanosis and her oxygen levels were very low. Ang Thong Hospital tried to treat her but her symptoms did not improve, so they sent her to the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health or Children’s Hospital when she was only 2 days old.
The Children’s Hospital examined and diagnosed Nong Natcha with cyanosis, and the Children’s Hospital performed initial treatment by performing a heart balloon until she improved and was able to return home like other children. However, her mother continued to bring her for treatment and follow-up appointments.
Until she was 2 years old, her symptoms became more cyanosis, so the doctor scheduled a heart catheterization. When the results came out, the doctor recommended that she urgently undergo heart surgery. The Children’s Hospital contacted the foundation to support children’s heart surgery, so the foundation scheduled Nong Natcha for heart surgery at Rajavithi Hospital. This surgery has a high risk of up to 50%. The doctor informed her before the surgery and asked her mother to be prepared. Her mother was very scared and worried. On January 22, 2022, she underwent heart surgery, and everything went well. About a week after the surgery, she had a lung infection, but she was able to get through it. Natcha was in the ICU for about 17 days before being able to move out to the heart surgery ward. After that, her symptoms gradually improved and she is now able to return home with her mother and family.
