Miss Chanyani Saksakunpaisit, 7 months old, is the daughter of Master Tingkorn, 26 years old, and Mrs. Sommee, 19 years old. They are rotational farmers and live in Ban Khao Tee Kho, Mae Wa Luang District, Tak Province, which is located on a mountain about 50 kilometers from Tha Song Yang Hospital. At first, Nong Tee Kri or Nong Nam Yen was not feeling well, so her parents took her to see a doctor at Ban Ta Po Pu Health Station. However, the doctor could not treat her and sent her to Tha Song Yang Hospital. Tha Song Yang Hospital admitted Nong Tee Kri to the hospital, where the doctor said that he suspected that she had a congenital heart defect. However, since the hospital did not have a pediatric cardiologist, they had to wait until she got better before sending her to Tak Hospital for further treatment. Nong Tee Kri had to stay at Tha Song Yang Hospital for 2-3 months. She had improved so much that the doctor allowed her to go home only once, but after less than a week, her condition got worse, so they had to bring her back to Tha Song Yang Hospital. When Thasong Yang Hospital learned that Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation would be providing a screening unit for children’s heart patients at Mae Sot Hospital, Thasong Yang Hospital coordinated and took Teekri by ambulance to be screened by the foundation at Mae Sot Hospital. From the examination, the doctor informed that he had a ventricular septal defect (VSD). The doctor saw that he was not in good condition, tired very easily, lethargic, and exhausted all the time. He was smaller than normal children. Therefore, he informed his parents that he would perform surgery immediately. He would be put in the queue because he was afraid that if he left it for longer, he would have other complications, which would make his condition worse. He underwent screening on January 29, 2023, and that evening he went back to Thasong Yang Hospital for treatment. On January 30, Thasong Yang Hospital sent him by ambulance to continue treatment at the Queen Sirikit Institute of Child Health and sent him to undergo surgery at Rajavithi Hospital on February 1, 2023. During the surgery, which lasted almost 8 hours, his parents could only sit in front of the operating room from morning until evening, not daring to go anywhere for long. Hungry, he just went to buy instant noodles and sat down to eat in front of the operating room. The father said that he was both worried and scared, but he believed in the doctor that he would be able to help his son recover. When the child was discharged from the operating room, the doctor informed him that the surgery went well.
After the surgery, the child looked much better. He could suck a lot of milk, was cheerful, smiled easily, played with the nurses, was not tired, and was no longer lethargic. He looked good and was the favorite of the nurses. Soon, the child would be able to go back home and live a life similar to that of a normal child. He would be able to grow up to be a good person for his family in the future.
