His father, Master Muhammad Daengchat, 34 years old, works as a hired hand raising cows in the area of his home in Chachoengsao. His mother, Mrs. Amporn Klinsawat, 31 years old, works as a hired hand who has to wake up early in the morning to travel from Chachoengsao to work in the Lat Krabang area. Most of the family’s income comes from his mother, which is just enough to support themselves. Their financial situation is quite difficult.
Nong Rattanakon was born at Nong Chok Hospital. When he was 3 months old, his mother noticed that he was breathing irregularly, was short of breath, had blue skin, and had blue fingernails and toenails. So she took him to see a doctor at Nopparat Hospital. The doctor said that he had a heart condition. He took him to see the doctor all the time, but the doctor didn’t recommend surgery or anything. He just gave him medicine to take. He was treated for about 1 year. Then the doctor resigned, so he didn’t go to see the doctor anymore.
Until he got older, he got more and more tired, so he went to see the doctor. When the doctor examined him, he recommended that he have a heart surgery to cure him completely. The parents were both happy and sad at the same time. They were happy that their son would be cured. He could recover from heart disease and go to school and live like a normal child. But on the other hand, they were also afraid. I was afraid that something would happen to my son, but I wanted him to get better, so I decided to let him have a heart surgery. Before the surgery, he was sick very often. He went to school on and off because he was often sick. But after the surgery, his condition improved a lot. There were obvious changes. He could breathe well, not get tired easily, and he could run and play football.
I want other children with heart disease in Thailand to have the same chance and be lucky as Rattanagorn, so that he can return to being a normal child and a beloved child of his parents.
