Nong Kant, the darling of heart surgery fans
Dr. Phongsathon Chotiwuttakorn or Nong Kant, 2 years and 2 months old, is the youngest of three siblings of Cpl. Athit and his mother, Pannee Chotiwuttakorn. His father is a soldier at Thanarat Camp, Pran Buri District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. His mother and children live in Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province. His mother works as a seamstress and takes care of her children.
Nong Kant was born at Saraburi Hospital by cesarean section. After the surgery, he had cyanosis. Saraburi Hospital sent him to the National Institute of Child Health in Bangkok for further treatment. The doctor informed him that Nong Kant had a cyanosis-like heart disease, so he received treatment. He was continuously scheduled for checkups and follow-ups. When Nong Kant was 8 months old, the doctor scheduled his first surgery at Rajavithi Hospital to expand his blood vessels and gave him medication for another 2-3 months. When he went to the National Institute of Child Health as scheduled, It was found that the blood vessel that was operated on was blocked. She took medicine and came for regular check-ups.
Until Nong Kant was 1 year and 10 months old, she was scheduled for a major surgery on February 14, 2009. After the surgery, Nong Kant had to stay in the ICU for 1 month. When she was released to a normal room, she had a lung infection, so she was sent back to the National Institute of Child Health. When she arrived, her heart stopped beating, so she was resuscitated and was treated at the National Institute of Child Health for 9 days. During that time, Nong Kant had other symptoms, such as kidney failure, couldn’t remember anything, and was sent back to Rajavithi Hospital for further treatment. An X-ray showed a blood clot in her brain, so she had to undergo brain surgery to remove the blood clot. She had to stay in the ICU for another week before she could be released to a normal room. She started to develop normally.
In total, Nong Kant was hospitalized for about 2 months. Nong Kant was a playful child, cheerful, smiled, laughed easily, was cheerful, and liked to go out. When the doctor or nurse invited her to go out, she smiled. So happy and willing to go along easily that she became the favorite of the doctors and nurses in the heart surgery building.
Before the heart surgery, Nong Kant got tired easily. She could walk only a few steps and had to sit down to rest. But after the heart surgery, Nong Kant didn’t get tired easily anymore. She could run and play.
