I am the mother of “Nong Pleum”, a boy named Korawit Rotkarn, from Phang Nga Province. I had the opportunity to get to know the “Foundation” when I brought Nong Pleum for treatment at Rajavithi Hospital. I feel that the Foundation is like giving new life to children with heart disease, like dying and being reborn, allowing our child to live until now.
Since I gave birth to Nong Pleum on July 10, 2003, Nong Pleum has been on a ventilator since birth and has been in the NICU room. The pediatrician still could not give me an answer as to what was wrong with Nong Pleum and told his mother, “Prepare yourself mentally, he might not live long.” At that time, I felt dizzy. When I went to see my son in the NICU room, I felt so sorry for him. He was born and had to leave his mother not long ago. I could only cry and pray to all the sacred things to protect my son so that he would survive. At that time, my sister, who was a nurse at Vachira Phuket Hospital, consulted me about Nong Pleum’s symptoms. The pediatrician at Takua Pa gave him every medicine that he thought could cure him, but the pediatrician at Vachira did not agree, saying that The child may have a brain disorder, so we should not hold the child. So I signed a consent form for the pediatrician at Takua Pa to reduce the medication for him. After reducing the medication for 1 day, his upper body was red and his lower body was green, which made the pediatrician at Takua Pa think that he may have PDA heart disease and would send him to see a cardiologist at Songklanagarind Hospital. When Nong Pleum was 7 days old, the pediatrician at Takua Pa Hospital sent Nong Pleum to have an echo at Songklanagarind Hospital. When we arrived at PSU Hospital, the doctor did an echo and diagnosed that Nong Pleum had “PDA heart disease” and would need emergency surgery within 2 weeks of age. We had to travel to Bangkok for the surgery. At that time, I thought that I would do whatever it took to make my child recover like a normal child. No matter how much money I spent, I would fight. Before traveling to Bangkok for the surgery, the doctor at PSU performed a heart catheterization on Nong Pleum for 4 hours. Nong Pleum had a problem with blood clotting. We had to call a surgeon to stitch up and stop the blood vessels, which caused Nong Pleum to get a blood infection and had to be treated to kill the infection first. Therefore, the surgery could not be done within 2 weeks of age, so he was hospitalized. ม. for a while first.
When Nong Pleum was able to remove the ventilator, she was 20 days old, my father, Nong Pleum, and my sister who is a nurse brought Nong Pleum to see Dr. Phiraphat and was admitted to the Children’s Hospital for about 10 days. I met with Dr. Phiraphat. The doctor told me to raise Nong Pleum until she weighed about 4 kg before the surgery could be done, and to go for F/U with Dr. Somkiat at ม.ค. for the time being. If anything, Dr. Somkiat will contact Dr. Phiraphat himself.
After that, I brought Nong Pleum back home and while waiting for the surgery, I took her for F/U with Dr. Somkiat at ม.ค. 2 times. The second time, the doctor informed me that Nong Pleum had symptoms of cyanosis and very low blood oxygen levels. I had to rush her to see a doctor in Bangkok. The doctor contacted Dr. Phiraphat and told me to go to Bangkok. So I brought her to see Dr. Phiraphat. The doctor told her to First, I went to the Children’s Hospital for a heart transplant. My little brother was hospitalized at the Children’s Hospital for 3 days and then returned home. The following month, I brought him to see the doctor again for his appointment. And what I had been waiting for finally happened. The doctor scheduled the surgery for Plueum on December 12, 2003 and admitted him to the Children’s Hospital on December 11, 2003. When the appointment day came, my father and I brought him to the appointment. On December 12, 2003, officers from Rajavithi Hospital came to pick up Plueum at the Children’s Hospital and waited to enter the operating room on the 3rd floor of the Sa-at Briphat Building. While waiting, the nurses gave Plueum sleeping pills. When it was time to enter the operating room, the nurses came to pick him up and take him to the 2nd floor. My father and I carried him to the room and sat in front of the operating room waiting for him to have surgery. While I was sitting in front of the operating room, I prayed to the sacred object that if he would survive and be safe, I would survive and be safe in all 32 ways and not let him be disabled in any way. If he was disabled, I would let him leave me. Please don’t let my child suffer in this world anymore. When time passed, in the evening, the doctor came out of the operating room and said that everything was fine and that he would operate on him again in 10 days. I saw my son’s face when the staff wheeled him from the operating room to the ICU. I felt so sorry for my son. I could only pray that he would be safe, safe, and safe. After 10 days, the doctor operated on him again and the operation went well. My son Pleum was in the ICU for about 30 days. The doctor started to bring him back to consciousness (before this, he would always sleep). However, he had a problem with his eyesight. He wouldn’t look at me or make eye contact. My mother felt so sorry for him and was afraid that he would go blind. She could only pray to the sacred to protect him, asking that he not go blind. And the sacred really did protect him. When he was removed from the ventilator and my mother held him and looked at him, he looked at me and smiled at me. At that moment, I felt that the mountain I was carrying in my chest had been lifted. I was happier than anything in the world that he could see me. I quickly called my father, who had gone back to Phang Nga to work first. My father brought my grandmother and great-grandmother And Nong Plueum’s older sister came up to visit Nong at the hospital and Nong has left the ICU and is recuperating on the 3rd floor of the Sa-at Boripaat Building. Nong Plueum stayed for another 3 weeks and then was able to go home and had regular appointments for F/U. After the surgery was completed and Nong Plueum was taken back home, Nong Plueum was healthy and getting better all the time, with no complications. Nong Plueum, who went from being a black child with green lips and green fingernails and toenails, has become a white child with red lips, red cheeks, red fingernails and toenails, has a good appetite, and is gaining weight according to the standard and has age-appropriate development. Mother feels grateful.
