Kittiphum Sonsiri (Nong Ae) is 6 years old, has 2 siblings, the oldest is a girl. Nong Ae is the second child of Rangsrit Sonsiri, 36 years old, and Rungcharoen Thongpeng, 35 years old. His father works as a factory driver, while his mother also works in a factory.
Nong Ae was born on September 16, 2005. When he was born, he had to stay in the incubator for about 1 week because he had respiratory problems since he was born prematurely. However, other symptoms did not appear. After that, when he was 9 months old, he started to get sick quite often. His parents took him to Phanthong Hospital for treatment. It was found that he had a congenital heart disease. The hospital then sent him to Chonburi Hospital for further treatment.
Chonburi Hospital performed an echo and found that he had a complex heart disease. He was then transferred to the Children’s Hospital to await surgery and treatment for congenital heart disease at Rajavithi Hospital according to procedure. At that time, he was just over a year old, so he had to wait for his weight to reach the standard before he could undergo surgery.
During the waiting period for surgery, she felt tired easily and her body became increasingly cyanotic. When she was 3 years old, she underwent a pulmonary bypass surgery to reduce her cyanosis at the Heart Disease Center, Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital, under the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation on April 18, 2009. After the surgery, her condition gradually improved and she was able to go to school like other normal children.
Then, 3-4 months ago, she started feeling tired, feverish, and cyanotic again. Her parents took her to Chonburi Hospital, where the hospital took blood tests because they were afraid that she had dengue fever. However, her body was very hot, so she was transferred to the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation at Rajavithi Hospital. However, the problem was that she could not undergo surgery because her teeth were decayed. If she had performed the surgery at that time, it would have been risky and dangerous and could have caused an infection.
However, in the end, the doctor decided to perform the surgery on November 7, 2011 because her fever had increased and she became increasingly cyanotic. This time, it was a major surgery to correct all the abnormalities. The results of the surgery were satisfactory. The child was treated in the ICU for 5 days and gradually improved. He was able to return home to continue his recovery.
The parents and Nong Ae would like to thank all the donors through Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation. If it were not for your kindness, Nong would not have been able to live like a normal child.
