Nong Itthikorn, the second child of father Joe and mother Ae, both are Burmese who came to work in Thailand about 10 years ago. The eldest child lives with his grandmother in Burma. His father worked at an onion-chili-carrot processing factory in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province for about 5 years. He used to earn 205 baht per day. Now, since 2013, he earns 300 baht per day. Before that, he worked at a rice factory in Salaya District, Nakhon Pathom Province.
As for his mother, she used to work at the same place as his father. After giving birth to Nong Itthikorn, she stopped working and became a housewife to take care of the child. As for the house, there are no expenses. The boss let him stay for free. He only had to pay for water and electricity, which was 150 baht per month.
Nong Itthikorn had a blood vessel surgery at the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health when he was 7 days old and stayed in the hospital for about 1 month. The cost was about 100,000 baht, which the hospital allowed him to pay in installments. Currently, there is about 20,000 baht left.
In addition, he had a heart catheterization at the Children’s Hospital on September 24, 2012, which cost about 30,000 baht. He is still paying in installments.
Nong Itthikorn had surgery at Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital on March 3, 2014, with assistance from the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation to support all of the surgery costs.
