Thanason Meechanchaow or Newton, 7 years old, is the son of Mom Nuengrutai Wattanakrai. He lives in Samut Sakhon Province. His mother told us that Newton has congenital heart disease, has narrowed arteries, and a heart leak, as well as many other symptoms. Whenever Newton does something quickly or runs around, he tends to get tired easily and is out of breath, causing his lips to turn blue and his fingernails to turn blue. But if he notices this and sits down to rest for a while, his symptoms will get better. He has an appointment with the doctor every 4 months at the Children’s Hospital, and the doctor always emphasizes that he must not let his teeth decay, because if he does, the germs can enter his bloodstream and affect his heart disease. So his mother has to take him to get his teeth checked regularly every 6 months. When Newton goes to school, he is the one who does things slowly. When he walks up to his classroom on the second floor, he has to walk slowly and sit down to rest before entering the classroom. In PE, the teacher would let him do small activities and let him sit and watch his friends instead.
Until Newton was 6 years old, the doctor informed him that he was old enough to undergo surgery, so he was sent for a heart catheterization to examine and prepare information for this surgery. After that, the hospital called to inform him that they had coordinated for him to undergo surgery at the Heart Center of Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital. At first, the mother was very worried because Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital is a private hospital. She was afraid that she would not be able to pay for the expenses. So, the mother asked if she could change to Rajavithi Hospital instead. But the nurse who called to inform her about this surgery said that this surgery was under the care of the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation. The foundation would help cover all the expenses for the surgery. The mother was relieved and relieved.
Until January 16, 2022, the child went to the hospital to prepare for the surgery. Newton felt very scared and worried. He secretly cried often. The mother could only comfort him and tell him to try to relax. Trust and let the doctor do his job. The doctor is very good. The doctor must help the child get better so that he can run and play with his friends and play the sports that he likes and wants to play. In fact, the mother was very stressed and worried, but she tried not to show it to the child. Newton underwent surgery on January 17, 2022. He was in the operating room for about 4 hours and then was discharged to stay in the CCU for about 4 nights. During this COVID period, the hospital did not allow visitors to visit him. The mother could only secretly look at him through the window and drove back and forth between Bangkok and Samut Sakhon to see him every day. Until January 23, the doctor said that the child was much better and could go home to continue receiving treatment. The mother was very happy that the surgery went well. From now on, Newton will be able to live a life like other children.
